THE KIND OF COMPANY WE ARE 

OpenPlan was founded with the mission to create human-centred software. Our co-founders, Mike and Rich, were first introduced by other people who noticed their similar working approaches. Despite working in different sectors, Mike in change leadership and Rich in software, both were motivated to deliver great outcomes in places where great outcomes were often unexpected. Too often, applications do far more than most users need. So, Openplan was born from the idea that software products should focus on what is most important, most useful, and most valuable for users – delivering simple software with transformative potential. 
With the purpose-driven ethos of Mike and Rich, Openplan develops solutions that help to improve the functioning of local authorities and the lives of people working within them. By giving open access to often hard-to-access data and enabling integration with existing systems, we empower local authorities to see and use their data wherever they are - enabling data-driven action without the need for lots of complex systems or paper-based solutions. And with more efficient working practices and the better working environments they create, our work has shown that users can deliver better outcomes for their service.

OPENPLAN ACCESS 

Openplan Access unlocks hard-to-access data, documents and information and opens them up to everyone who needs them. Too often, planning data are hard to access and hard to use – including for people making planning applications, for people deciding them, and for everyone else interested in them. We see a fair and efficient planning process as open and transparent. So, Openplan Access helps to make sure that everyone can access and use the information they need, when they need it, without complex systems or paper-based solutions. Its elements include: 
A major-scheme application progress visualisation tool for applicants, planning authorities, and other interested people
An easy-to-use viewer of publicly available planning information for local people, applicants and other interested people. 
A planning data query tool for planning authorities. 

OPENPLAN MIGRATE 

Openplan Migrate supports efficient, accurate, and predictable data migration. We often see that migrating data and documents from old to new systems can be a major challenge. Data are often inaccurate, inconsistent, or incomplete. The nature and scale of data challenges might be unknown until midway through the migration process. And sometimes, changing systems is treated as a software issue, rather than a change leadership issue – leaving local authorities to attempt data migration themselves, often lacking support from the suppliers they bought the new software from. Openplan Migrate helps to fix problems caused by unreliable data. By building a disciplined data model in between old and new systems, we transfer and fix old data there, then input the clean, accurate data into the new system - fixing inaccuracies before they reach the new system. This benefits users by:

OPENPLAN WORKVIEW 

Openplan Workview helps busy public service delivery teams to unlock lost capacity and meet workload challenges. Our work has shown there is a capacity shortage in the public sector. And we see that meeting that challenge has much to do with the wellbeing and productivity of public servants. We also believe that, to meet a challenge, we must first see it and understand it clearly.  
 
So, Openplan Workview creates a clear and persuasive data story of workload, any arising challenges, and the management action needed to fix them. By providing a clear picture of how work-in-progress has been in the past, what it will look like in the future, and model the effects that process improvements and changes to capacity will have, it helps teams to balance workload and capacity – creating more rewarding, less stressful working environments where public servants can do their best work.
